My Personal Creation!

This weekend my mom asked me to write a piece about the church she is getting married in to go on the front of the program. I interviewed both her and her fiancee' about why it was important to get married there and if they ahd specific memories of the church. It was my first creative writing experience after all the writing we have done in our class. I was excited to be able to do this and most of it came from the discussions and writing from our class sessions. It turned out to be a great experience so i thought I would share it with everyone. let me know what you think if you have some time on your hands!!!

~As we pass through these wooden doors,
We are joined by the memories of generations past.
In this one dwelling, we transform from separate beings
Into a single being.
We come together with the love and understanding
From years past and years to come.
A simple church with so much history.
His Grandmother,
Her Grandmother,
Our Grandmother.
As he walks in their footsteps he recalls the memories of days past
with the rising sound of the piano and the moving of lips to the songs
of praise.
She steps into a place of so many of her ancestors and is encompassed
by their tears of happiness and hopeful prayers.
There they find each other.
Walking through these doors
Into a church made of only walls
But the walls that have seen so many,
We watch, they watch,
Two people take each others hand
Giving everything, sharing everything
And meant for no other but the two.
In these walls, through these doors true love is witnessed.~

  1. THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Really lovely. One typo: 4th line from end: other's hand. (missing apostrophe).

Seriously -- this is so lyrical and moving.

Best wishes to your mom, her husband and to you!
